Education is the most precious gift we can give to our children. The ADS Houston Chapter Board of Directors is excited to have launched the first annual ADS Houston Scholarship Program. In May of this year, we conducted the first fundraiser and thanks to the generosity of our community and friends, a substantial amount of money is now available to support this program. Following the success of the fundraiser, your Board has established the ADS Houston Scholarship Program by creating a Trust document that sets how the program will be administered. The scholarship program is designed to provide supplemental funds to facilitate the pursuit of university undergraduate studies at accredited institutions. The scholarship is in the amount of $1,500 per year, for a maximum of four years of university studies per student. A student that receives a scholarship automatically qualifies to renew the scholarship for an additional three years by submitting the annual renewal application and demonstrating good academic standing for the previous school year. The scholarship award will be paid directly to the student. The process is simple:• Fill out the attached application. Also, see attachment “Notes to Candidates” for additional clarifications.• Applicant must be a member of the ADS at the time the application is submitted.• Mail application and supporting documents to the following address: ADS Houston Scholarship Program Selection Committeec/o ADS Houston Chapter3322 Pebble Beach, Pearland, TX 77584• Application must be postmarked no later than October 15th 2007. The scholarship is awarded based on merit. A Selection Committee will review all applications and an awardee will be selected by October 30th 2007, whose name will be announced no later than November 15th 2007. By 2010, the ADS Houston Scholarship Program will be providing a minimum of four scholarships for a total of $6,000 on an annual basis. The ADS Houston Chapter Board strongly encourages you to participate in this program by submitting applications for your sons and daughters who are currently enrolled in a university program or who will be attending a university program starting in the Fall of 2007. Feel free to contact me or any of your chapter board members if you have any questions regarding the application process or the scholarship program.Sincerely,Souheil S. Ghaoui
